Our client is a well established peak regional indigenous organisation in Western Australia. It is dedicated to developing a modern and innovative service to the community, assisting Aboriginal people to enjoy native title rights over traditional land and waters in the North West region.

Due to some new large scale projects, a great opportunity has opened up for an adventurous lawyer to join this great team in Broome.

Joining a team of lawyers and working with the Principal Legal Officer, you will provide high level legal advice and services to this organisation in relation to:

-Native Title applications
-Future Acts
-Aboriginal heritage sites
-Commercial contracts, joint ventures and land use agreements
-Corporate structures and governance.

You will also represent the organisation and Aboriginal groups in negotiations and before the National Native Title Tribunal and the Federal Court.

As an admitted Solicitor, you will ideally have experience with litigation, property or the Native Title Act.

A good background Commonwealth legislative framework, and Federal Courts and tribunals would also be handy as would experience in administrative law, civil law or commercial law, and in particular the areas of property, land management, local government, environmental, contract, mining or company law. You will also bring to this role:

-High level analytic and legal research skills
-The ability to communicate with community groups and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people
-A current driver licence.

Experience in policy development, mediation or dispute resolution is looked on favourably.
