Hi, My name is Vicky Lawson and I am from the U.K. I am looking for
about 5 and 1/2 months full time work in a veterinary practice in the
Sydney area. I can start as soon as possible.
I am a registered qualified veterinary nurse. I have been working in
practice since July 2004 and qualified in August 2008.
I enjoy working in a team, as well as working alone and using my own
initiative. I am hard working, honest, reliable and a good team
player. I find practical work, such as medical nursing very rewarding.
I have worked in small/large animal practice and a 24 hour veterinary
hospital. At the veterinary hospital I worked along side 6 branch
practices in the Bristol area. I was based on the 'out of hours' rota.
I would work a 40 hour week, with 1 night shift a week and 1:5 weekend
(48 hour shift). When working out of hours, I took emergency phone
calls, care for the inpatients and deal with any emergencies that were
admitted.
In an average week my tasks varied from assisting with minor to major
procedures. These include: Radiography, Anesthesia, Dentistry,
Ultrasound scanning, Laparoscopic procedures and Endoscopy.
On a daily basis I dispensed medication, insert intravenous catheters
and IV fluid administration. Also I would obtain and process blood
samples from a varied of animals. I enjoy working and helping with the
training student nurses.
I have assisted and scrubbed in for a variety of minor and major
operations. I enjoy admitting and preparing animals for theatre as
well as caring for them post operatively.
A large part of my role was advising clients in nurse led clinics or
through telephone enquiries. I was in charge of the weight management
clinics, where I would help owners to get the animals to a suitable,
healthy weight. I also did post operative checks and participate in
general administration and reception duties.
