Date Listed: 04/07/2008 Uniting those touched by cancer, Friday 22 August is Daffodil Day, the annual Cancer Council fundraising event giving hope to cancer patients, their family and friends. One in two people will hear the words "you have cancer" before they are 85-years-old. With more than 33,000 people diagnosed with cancer in NSW this year, Cancer Council is determined to make this Daffodil Day the biggest and best yet so we can offer patients, their family and friends the support and hope that they need. Our goal is to raise over $3.7 million in NSW and $9 million across Australia. With your help more people will beat cancer. You can support Daffodil Day on Friday 22 August and join the fight against cancer by purchasing fresh daffodils, or other Daffodil Day goodies from sites at your local shopping precincts and transport hubs. You can also show your support by volunteering to sell fresh daffodils and Daffodil Day gifts at sites throughout the state, or by selling Daffodil Day gifts during the month of August. Each year Cancer Council relies on more than 10,000 everyday Australians to ensure the success of Daffodil Day. To help by volunteering on a Daffodil Day site, selling Daffodil Day merchandise, buying a bunch of daffodils or making a donation call 1300 65 65 85 or visit www.daffodilday.com.au. All funds raised through Daffodil Day will help Cancer Council fund research, support and prevention services for patients and their families like the Cancer Helpline (13 11 20).
